Haier Laundry Centre Error Codes: CLOK, E1, E4 and More

Quick Answer

Haier laundry centre codes cover washing and drying in one unit. CLOK is just the child lock, E1 is a pump blockage, and E4 has a drain hose height rule.

A Haier laundry centre stacks a washer and a dryer in one cabinet, so its fault codes cover both halves. The ones you are most likely to see are also the ones you can clear yourself: CLOK is simply the child lock being on, E1 is a pump blockage, door is something caught in the door, and E4 is a fill problem with a specific drain hose height rule attached.

The rest, including the drying side codes, are faults Haier sends to a service technician.

Haier's table also lists three faults whose code characters do not display on its page: not draining, which it says to fix by cleaning the pump filter and checking the drain hose for blockage or kinks; a blocked filter, fixed by cleaning the lint filter and refitting it; and a wireless module that failed to configure, where Haier says to power the machine off and unplug it for 60 seconds before booking a service. CLOK is not a fault

Start here, because it is the code most likely to send someone looking for a technician they do not need. CLOK means the child lock is on. The machine is fine. It will simply ignore button presses until you turn the lock off, which Haier says to do by pressing and holding the child lock button for 3 seconds.

Child locks get switched on by accident constantly, usually by someone leaning on the panel or wiping it down. If your laundry centre seems dead to the touch and the display shows CLOK, that is your answer.

E4 and the 80 to 100cm drain hose rule

E4 means the water level was not reached within 8 minutes. Haier's checks are worth following in order, because the second one is the surprise:

  1. Is the tap turned on? Fully open, not part way.
  2. Is the drain hose at the right height? Haier specifies it should not be lower than 80cm and should sit between 80 and 100cm, roughly 31 to 39 inches. Too low and water siphons out as fast as the machine fills, so the level is never reached.
  3. Is water flowing elsewhere in the home? If other taps are weak at the same time, the supply is the problem rather than the machine.

That middle check is the one people skip, and it explains a washer that appears to run forever without filling. It is an installation issue, not a broken part.

E1 and the pump filter

E1 is a pump blockage, and Haier's fix is to clean the pump filter and check the drain hose for blockages or kinks. On a stacked unit the filter is usually behind a small hatch at the bottom front of the washer section.

  1. Switch the machine off and unplug it.
  2. Put down a towel and a shallow tray, because water will come out.
  3. Unscrew the filter slowly and let it drain, then clear out lint, coins and hair.
  4. Rinse it, refit it firmly, and check the drain hose behind the machine for kinks.

Two filters, not one

This is where a laundry centre differs from a plain washer, and it catches people out. There is the pump filter on the washing side, which is the one above, and there is a lint filter on the drying side. Haier lists a blocked filter fault with the fix being to clean the lint filter and refit it.

A clogged lint filter is the most common reason a drying cycle underperforms, and it is also a fire safety matter, because restricted airflow makes the dryer run hotter than designed. Clean it every load. If your clothes are coming out damp after a full cycle, our guide on a dryer that takes two cycles to dry covers the airflow checks.

The drying side codes

FE is a drying fan error, FC6 a drying fan PCB error, E61 an air filter error, and F31 and F33 are sensor errors. Haier sends all of these to a technician. What helps is noting the exact code, because "it washes fine but will not dry and shows FE" points somewhere quite different from F4, a heater error.

Frequently asked questions

What does CLOK mean on a Haier laundry centre?

The child lock is activated. Press and hold the child lock button for 3 seconds to cancel it. The machine is not faulty.

What does E4 mean?

The water level was not reached in 8 minutes. Check the tap is on, that the drain hose sits between 80 and 100cm high, and that water is flowing normally elsewhere in the home.

Why does my laundry centre show E1?

E1 is a pump blockage. Clean the pump filter and check the drain hose for blockages or kinks.

How many filters does a laundry centre have?

Two. A pump filter on the washing side and a lint filter on the drying side. Haier lists separate faults for each.

What should I do about a wireless module error?

Haier says to power the machine off and unplug it for 60 seconds. If the error is still there when power comes back on, book a service.
