Haier Dryer Error Codes: Condenser vs Heat Pump Models

Haier publishes two different fault code lists for its dryers, and looking up your code on the wrong one will mislead you. On a condenser dryer, F2 is a "drain fault" and F4 is "no change in temperature sensor". On a heat pump dryer, F2 is a "pump or water level switch fault" and F4 is "abnormal heating no temp increase". Same characters, different machines.

The good news: on both types, the codes you are most likely to see are the ones you can often clear yourself, because they come down to an unemptied water tank or a clogged lint filter.

Which dryer do you have?

If you are not sure, the simplest tell is the badge and the cycle time. Heat pump dryers are marketed on low energy use and run noticeably longer per load. Condenser dryers use a heating element and run hotter and faster. Both collect water in a tank you empty, which is why both have a water tank code.

Start with the water tank

F2 on either dryer type is about water, and it is the code most often cleared without a technician. A condenser or heat pump dryer pulls moisture out of your clothes and stores it in a tank, usually behind a flap at the top or bottom of the machine. When that tank is full, the dryer stops.

Empty it, seat it properly, and restart. If it faults again with an empty tank, the issue moves to the pump or the water level switch that reports the tank state, and that is a service job. Some models can also be plumbed to drain directly, in which case check that hose for kinks and make sure it is not routed too high.

Then clean the lint filter and the condenser

Look at Haier's advice for condenser dryer F4 and E6: both say to clean the lint filter, clean the condenser, and make sure it is fitted correctly. That is the same fix repeated for two different codes, which tells you how often airflow is the real cause.

The lint filter is the one people know about. The condenser is the part people forget. It is usually behind a panel at the bottom front, and it clogs with fine lint that the filter misses. A blocked condenser means hot, wet air cannot give up its moisture, so the dryer either never reaches temperature or cooks itself and throws a code.

The heat pump codes are mostly sealed system

FF is a compressor fault, and the FC family are communication and board errors. A heat pump dryer contains a sealed refrigerant system much like a refrigerator, so those repairs need certified handling rather than a DIY attempt. Note the code and pass it on.
