Haier Dishwasher Error Codes: The Official Fault Code List

On a Haier dishwasher, the most common fault codes are water supply codes. Haier's own fault code table says E11 means the "water tap closed during the first fill" and E12 means the "water tap closed during re-fill". A20 is a draining alarm, and F30 is an overflow alarm that Haier says to treat as a stop-everything situation. Most of the rest are internal faults that Haier tells you to book a service for.

The four codes worth trying yourself

Most of Haier's list ends in "book a service". These four do not, and they cover a large share of real call-outs:

• E11 and E12: the tap. Both codes are about the water supply. E11 is the first fill, E12 is a later re-fill in the same cycle. Check the tap under the sink is fully open, then follow the hose for a kink. Haier also points at water pressure, so if other fixtures in the house are weak, that is your answer.
• A20: the drain. Haier's first question is whether this is a new installation, because of one specific mistake. When a dishwasher drain is connected to a new sink spigot or a garbage disposal, the blanking plug inside has to be knocked out first. If nobody drilled or punched it out, the dishwasher can never drain, and it will fault every single cycle from day one.
• H and H/OPEN: the door. H/OPEN just means close the door properly. A plain H is a door switch fault, and Haier's tip is worth knowing: on a new install, check the machine is sitting level. A dishwasher that is racked in its cabinet can twist the door just enough that the switch never confirms it is shut.
• A09: the sanitise cycle. The cycle did not get hot enough. Run it again before assuming a part has failed.

F30 is the one to take seriously

F30 is an overflow alarm, and Haier's instruction is more urgent than for any other code on the list: switch the dishwasher off at the wall, turn off the water supply tap, and book a service.

That wording matters. An overflow means water is somewhere inside the machine that it should not be, and the protective float has tripped. Resetting and running another cycle risks water on your floor and under your cabinets. Turn the water off at the tap, not just the machine off at the button.

What FAO is really telling you

FAO is the most misunderstood code on Haier's list, and Haier handles it in an unusual way. Rather than pointing at a part, the guidance asks a diagnostic question about your home: have you experienced any other appliances not working correctly in the home? Haier notes the error can be environmental, caused by a "dirty" power supply.

So if your dishwasher throws FAO and your microwave clock keeps resetting and the lights flicker, the dishwasher is the messenger, not the problem. That is a call to your power provider or an electrician, not an appliance technician.

Why so many codes say "book a service"

Flow meter, turbidity sensor, wash pump, air curtain fan, communication faults: Haier does not publish homeowner fixes for these, and we are not going to invent any. They need a meter, the service documentation for your model, and access to live electrical parts.

What genuinely helps is writing the exact code down before you call. "It is showing E42" tells a technician the flow rate is reading too high, which is a very different starting point from A60, a heating fault. It often shortens the visit.
